Stephen (Steve) Paul Swift, age 66, of Hastings, MI, passed away peacefully, February 02, 2022, at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital, in Grand Rapids, MI.
Steve was born in Hastings, MI on October 30, 1955, the oldest of six children, to Clayton Swift and Barbara (Bunker) Swift.
On September 06, 1975 Steve married Rene LaHaie, whom he met three years earlier at Lakewood Baptist Church. They were able to enjoy 46 years together until his passing.
Steve was raised in the Woodland area. Steve attended Woodland and Lakewood Schools, graduating in 1973.
Steve helped farm his family farm, while living at home. Steve went on to do many different types of jobs over the years. Farming, Factory work, etc. Steve loved to keep busy no matter what he was called to do. Ten years ago, Steve's health started to decline. Since he was no longer able to do the day to day work, he once knew, he began building beautiful pieces of furniture out of old pieces and loved to tinker on any broken power washer or lawnmower. Steve truly was an amazing man.
Steve's church family was big. In 2005 Steve helped start Living Waters Church in Hastings, MI He had a passion to help where and when needed. He did what he could do with what he had. Steve currently attended Living Waters Church in Hastings, MI.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Clayton Swift, youngest brother Thomas Swift.
Steve leaves behind, his wife Rene (LaHaie) Swift, whom he dearly loved. A son Gregory & Brandi (Raymond) Swift, grandchildren Brianna, Mallory, Andrew & Garrett Swift. Daughter Jennifer & George Demaray, grandchildren Cole Decker & Alicia Decker.
Also surviving are his Mother Barbara (Bunker) Swift, sister Sharon (Swift) & Ken Bergwerff, brother Daniel & Jody Swift, sister Deborah (Swift) & David Wood, Jr. brother Timothy & Brooke Swift. And many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Steve's life at Living Waters Church, 1302 S. Hanover St. Hastings, MI 49058, Saturday February 12, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A luncheon will be served.
