May 8, 2013 Stephanie Smereka, age 19, passed away May 8, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. Surviving are her parents Robert and Pam Smereka, sisters, Julie and Katie Smereka; her dogs Gracie and Sheba; grandparents, Ruth and Kenneth Augustine of Trenton, MI and Bob and Zonda Tebbe of Tipton, IN; uncles, Steve Tebbe and Mark Tebbe, five cousins as well as Uncle Mike and Aunt Jane Hardybala. Stephanie graduated from East Kentwood High School in 2012. She enjoyed swimming on the varsity swim team and was also involved in choir, varsity performance troops, musicals and was an honor society member. Stephanie was going to Hope College on the presidential scholarship to study psychology. She loved arts and crafts and especially her dogs. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11 at 11:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with visitation from 10-11am. Friends and relatives may meet with her family Friday, May 10 from 2-4 and 6-9pm where a rosary will be recited at 8:30pm at the Ofield Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
