Obituary

Stanley A Parsons, Caledonia Michigan, (formerly of Kalamazoo/Otsego), age 86, passed away on July 16, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born to Brander and Pearl (Bradeen) Parsons on September 3, 1933, in Kalamazoo, MI.
Stan grew up in Oakwood and was a 1952 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He was in the Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict. Stan married Audrey (Rutlidge) Parsons on June 8, 1956. They enjoyed 64 amazing, loving years together. Their special song was 'Misty'. He drove Audrey crazy right up to the last days of their wonderful life. He loved 'mom's cooking', especially tunafish-noodles and spaghetti.
Stan was the 'King of the one-liners'. He called all of his grandkids 'George' because he couldn't remember all of their names, he even named a couple geese out in the marsh George and Georgina. Some favorite memories of Stan were when he called his oldest daughter a bad investment, but he called his youngest daughter sweet pea.
Though he was not a man who favored organized religion, Stan was one of the kindest most giving men in the neighborhood, on the block or to his many, many, many Aunts. All of us girls wanted to marry our dad!
He was a great grill master - especially breakfast by the pool. He did however, make chili once or twice mistaking Cinnamon for Chili Powder - yum?!?
He was our 'super hero' - he drove all the way to Battle Creek to fix Lindsey's tire, picked up Shelby in Decatur when she ran out of gas, told Grandma that they had to 'throw them all back' when he and Aaron did not catch any fish and he rewarded us all with Coney Island! Stan used his creativity to build crafts, birdhouses, ornaments and bird sculptures in the pole barn with all the 'animals' (grandkids).
'Stan the Man' is survived by his wife, Audrey; his children Shelby Bill, Juli Gernaat, David (Shirley) Parsons, and Stacy (Bill) Smith; his Grandchildren, Aaron(Nikki), Lindsey(Chris), Katy(Brad), Ben(Lacey), Big Jake(Brittany), Little Jake(Nikki), Charlie(Nikki), Gabe(Austen), Hunter, Will and Swoop. He is also survived by 12 Great-Grandchildren and his sister, Pat (Parsons) Haggerson. He also leaves behind two Aunts, two nephews, one niece and several cousins.
