Sloan was preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie Jean and Eugene Johnson; grandparents, Carl and Mattie Simpson and John and Sadie Johnson; siblings, Michael, Annette, Stevie, and Stacy.
Sloan leaves behind her sister Brigitte Wooten; nephews Steven and Michael; niece Alisha; and several great nieces and nephews; aunts, Elizabeth Pitchford, Mary Hunt, Patricia Simpson, and Ella Stewart; uncles, Carl and Eulis Simpson, Albert, William, Charles, Paul, and Bernard Johnson; and a host of cousins and dear friends.
Sloan was a one-of-a-kind poet and philosopher-she was scrappy, funny, sensitive, self-sufficient, prophetic, and had very strong opinions.
Sloan had a special love for children and animals. As a poet, Sloan liked writing Haiku-a type of short-form poetry originating from Japan. She loved painting landscapes and flowers.
She attended Holland Public Schools, Davenport and Aquinas Colleges, and worked in the fine dining industry for many years. Sloan found fulfillment and enjoyment helping people.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Service Details. Visitation
