February 6, 2012 Service: February 10, 2012 Silvio Agustin de Cardenas age 92 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2012, to be with his Lord. He reunites with his loving wife Juanita, which preceded him in death in 2005. Silvio was born in Guines, Cuba and came to USA in May 1962. He was always successful in life because of his honesty and hard work. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his daughter Marta (Marcelo) de Cardenas-Alonso, son Silvio (Judy) de Cardenas, grandchildren, F. Amy (Wayne) VandeMerwe, Daniel Alonso, Ryan (Michelle) de Cardenas, Jeff (fiancée Megan McTaggart) de Cardenas, great grandchildren, Izabella and Tyler de Cardenas. Three special sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, special in law, Maria Alonso and many friends. Per his wishes cremation has taken place. On Friday, February 10, 2012 there will be a visitation at 1:00 pm with a memorial service at 2:00 pm at the Ofield Funeral Home 4500 Kalamazoo Ave. S.E with Father Donald Lomasiewicz as celebrant. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
