Shirley June (Pastoor) Triezenberg, age 90, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on March 30, 2020. Shirley joins her husband Herman Triezenberg who preceded her in death 18 years ago. She was a loving mother to daughters, Cindy (Rick) Bandstra, Pat (Jim) Talen, Nancy (Gary) Fox, Julie (Steve) Jones, Jennifer (Brad) VanderBrug and Sheila Stoffle, along with fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also a fond sister of Dan (late Esther) Pastoor, the late Janice (Bernie) Evenhouse and the late Harold (late Phyllis) Pastoor and sister-in-law of Marge (Hank) TerHorst, the late Cal (late Jerri) Smitter and Hank (Doreen) Triezenberg. Shirley was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan but spent most of her life in the Chicago area. She chose to focus her life on fostering deep relationships with family and friends, which often included amazing meals and meaningful conversation. She was respected by all who knew her for her compassion and empathy for others, qualities that equipped her to be one of the first female Elders in her church. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Kindred Hospice for all the love and care provided. A celebration of Shirley's life will be scheduled for a later date when a larger gathering is possible.
