Celebration of Life
Salem Township Hall
4:00 - 8:00 pm (Eastern time)
Shirley Ann (Jones) Delp, age 86, entered into the loving arms of the Lord on April 2nd, 2026, surrounded by her children Jeff, Grace, Paula, son-in-law Mike, and granddaughter Angela, at her home in Burnips, Michigan.
Born on May 23, 1939, in Bark River, Michigan, Shirley was the daughter of Walter and Florence Jones. She is survived by her siblings Richard, Bud, Vick, and David.
On April 29, 1961, Shirley married the love of her life, Paul Amil Delp Jr. Together they built a beautiful life and raised four children: Shelly (Tom) Brown, Jeff, Grace (Todd) Gibbs, and Paula (Mike) Gardner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul, her cherished daughter Shelly, and siblings Ron, Leona, Eddie, and Sandy.
Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Angie, Kirk, Justin, Mike, Sarah, and Paul; and her greatgrandchildren Ty, Michael, Ella, and Kayden.
Shirley had a lifelong fondness for Dalmatians — even though she never owned a live one. Anyone who stepped into her home was greeted by her delightful collection of Dalmatian-themed treasures: stuffed animals, pictures, calendars, cookie jars, coffee cups, blankets, and especially anything Disney-related.
She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life: mushroom hunting with her family, collecting walnuts with her sister Leona, and many years of bowling. She loved Bingo, casino slot machines, and card games of all kinds — especially Euchre. Countless evenings were spent around the table playing late into the night with Jeff, Grace, and Paula.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11 th , from 4:00-8:00 at Salem Township Hall, 3003 142nd Ave, Burnips, Michigan 49314.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local nonprofit Wings of Hope.
