Brown, Shirley Henrietta 4/1/1935 - 4/19/2017 Grand Rapids, MI Shirley Henrietta Brown 82 of Grand Rapids, MI passed away Wednesday morning at her home after a brief illness. She spent many years working in the service industry in restaurants and bars on Division as well as Michigan St. Laundry. Preceded in death by her husband Wendell E. (Father) Brown in July 1986. Survived by sons Robert A. Mekkes, Jack Zimmerman, daughter Tammy Raymond and grandson Wendell Raymond. Sisters Dorothy Fritz, Marjorie Angell, brothers Donald Mekkes and Wesley Lowing as well as many, many nieces & nephews, along with special friend and companion, Mrs. Joyce Jenerou of Bailey, MI. Ofield Funeral Home 4500 Kalamazoo SE. Visitation will be Monday, April 24 from 12-1 PM followed by a service of life. Donations may be made to the family to offset costs. Shirley was a woman who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.
