Sharon Smith, age 66, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully with her devoted daughter by her side the morning of Saturday, August 15th, 2026 after a sudden and brief battle with endometrial cancer.

Sharon was born on June 26, 1960 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Charles Frank Smith and Ramona June Smith, née Charette. An immeasurably cherished mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend, Sharon lived a life of compassion and sacrifice. She found deep personal fulfillment from her time working as a clerk typist in the Kent County medical examiner's office, being able to listen to grieving family members and help bring them comfort. Sharon and her daughter Alina made many happy memories together traveling around the state, enjoying vacations at the shores of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. She loved to play word games, share many favorite movies and shows, and watch footage of Great Lakes Shipping online, her favorite ship being the S.S. Alpena.

May her memory be a blessing to those that survive her: beloved daughter, Alina Hritz; former partner of 20 years, Mark Hritz; sister, LuAnn Kelley; niece, Melissa Lamb; mother, Ramona Smith; and her dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives she touched. Also surviving her is her sweet cat, Winston, who will miss his Momma but continue to be the best boy.
