Obituary

Sharon Lynn Ibarra (Devine), 73, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went home to her Lord and Savior on December 14, 2025. Sharon was born on April 23, 1952, to Douglas and Margaret Devine in Ann Arbor, MI. She grew up in St. Louis, MI with her four younger brothers whom she adored.

Sharon excelled in academics and was a member of the national honor society. She was first chair flute and enjoyed performing as a majorette in the marching bandunder the direction of her father who served as the high school band director. Sharon came to know Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the age of eight and was instrumental in sharing Christ with her family and friends. So much so that her younger brothers looked up to her as a spiritual leader. Sharon went on to attend Baptist Bible College (Cornerstone) where she earned a Bachelors in Religious Education.

Sharon met her late husband, Richard of nearly 45 years during this time at a New Year's Eve party. Sharon was an elementary school teacher before becoming a stay-at-home mother and homeschool teacher, which she loved best. Sharon was a dedicated prayer warrior, who loved serving everyone around her. She had a loud and contagious laugh that could fill any room. She loved decorating homes and wedding venues. She was an excellent artist and florist. Her hobbies included studying history, shopping, traveling, antiques, crafts, doll collecting, playing darts, chair volleyball, and singing in the choirs at Calvary Baptist Church and Heather Hills. Sharon was best known for her love of God and studying the Bible. She often met with friends who needed prayer and encouragement in their times of struggle.

Sharon is survived by her children, Chris Ibarra, Ryan (Lauren) Ibarra, Allison (Todd) Kuslikis and Stephanie (Louis) Arias; her grandchildren Mila, Lanae, Christian, Caiden, Hope, Emma, Landen, Nora, Aaron, Aiden, Emery, and Austin. Sharon leaves behind her brothers Randy (Annette) Devine, Dean (Kelly) Devine, Dale (Audra) Devine, Brian (Tonya) Devine and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents Douglas and Margaret Devine, and her husband Richard Ibarra.

Sharon's celebration of life will be held at Calvary Church Chapel on Saturday, January 10, 2026, (707 E. Beltline NE, 49525). The visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00am and the funeral service from 11:00am-12:00pm.

Sharon faced many challenges during her final years of life including the death of her beloved husband and her battle with dementia. Sharon's faith remained steadfast and her testimony for the Lord will be most cherished by her children, grandchildren and extended family. Sharon was lovingly cared for by the staff at Heather Hills, Cascade Trails, Faith Hospice, and her family.

Donations may be made in Sharon's honor to Mel Trotter Ministries or Alpha Grand Rapids. Floral tributes are also welcome and may be sent to Calvary Church.
