IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samuel Charles
Adams
July 11, 1980 – October 23, 2022
Samuel 'Sam' Charles Adams, age 42, passed away peacefully with his loved ones surrounding him on
October 23, 2022 after fighting a long and hard battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was born in
South Bend, Indiana on July 11th , 1980. Sam was a veteran of the US Army where he served from 2001-
2005 in Germany, Korea, and Afghanistan. He met his beloved wife, Dana Adams (Young) on December
31, 2011 and they married on October 14, 2017.
Sam was a family orientated man that always went above and beyond to cherish and protect his loved
ones. Sam's greatest attribute was his enormous heart and always knowing how to make everyone smile
and laugh. He spent most of his free time hunting, fishing, and golfing with his father-in-law, who he
lovingly referred to as his Dad. Sam was the happiest when our family would gather and have our
delicious family dinners, prepared by his favorite cook and cherished mother-in-law. Sam was a Detroit
Lions and Notre Dame football fanatic and enjoyed nothing more than tailgating and going to the games.
He was dedicated and actively involved in helping his fellow Veterans in any way he could. He also
enjoyed spending time with his dog, Tinkerbell, who he shared a very close bond with after rescuing her
in 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Dana Adams, of Grand Rapids, Michigan. His mother, Rosalie Adams (Jones),
and his brother, Jonathan Adams, of South Bend, Indiana. A very special father-in-law and mother-in-
law, Tom and Kristi Young of Spring Lake, Michigan. A very close sister-in-law, Jill (Paul) Kahler of North
Muskegon, Michigan. His son, Delevante Pruitt, of Louisville, Kentucky. His goddaughter, Sophia Yanez,
of Fairmount, Indiana. And very many special nieces, a nephew, half siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and
close friends.
He was proceeded in death by his grandmother, Donna Jones, and his grandfather, Frances Jones.
A memorial service will be held to honor and share Sam's life, at a to-be-determined later date and time. Service Details.
