Ruth J. Slanger, age 91, of Grand Rapids, MI, died on Tuesday, Dec. 7th, 2021 at Faith Hospice - Trillium Woods. Ruth was born February 27, 1930 in Flint, MI to parents C. Leo and Marie (Bila) Bauer.

Ruth taught in the Grand Rapids Public Schools as a reading specialist, special education teacher and early 5's teacher, up until her retirement. Reading was a passion that Ruth shared with others throughout her life. Ruth's ultimate passion was her active participation in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by them all.

Surviving are her Children; Lynn Martinelli, Lori (Charles) Slanger-Moore, Lisa (Yvonne) Slanger-Grant. Grandchildren; Greg (Toni), Lana, Matt, Rachael (Chris), Keith, Jennifer (Vince), Alex (partner Laura), Will (partner Nony) and Zane. Great-grandchildren; Malique, Soliel, Quinn, Evan, Blake and Everett. Brother Ken (Chris) Bauer of Seattle, Brother-in-law Walt Slanger and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William (Bill), son, Mathew (Matt) and sister-in-law, Lois Slanger.
