Ruth Irene Julien of Wyoming, Michigan, age 91, passed away at home amongst family on February 8th, 2022.
She was born to Leon and Lula Hocum on October 17th, 1930 in Charleston, West Virginia. Ruth was the oldest of three children.
Ruth was married to Thomas Julien on July 1st, 1950 and shared 56 years loving each other.
Ruth loved spending time with her family. They meant everything to her and she wouldn't miss an opportunity to show them how much she cared.
She always talked to her family and said the most important thing for her is to know her family is going to make it to heaven.
Ruth was also known for her delicious cinnamon rolls. Years ago she wanted to help her church purchase a drinking fountain. She prayed and God shared a recipe with her. She started making the cinnamon rolls and was able to raise enough money to purchase a drinking fountain.
She continued making the cinnamon rolls for many years and even taught her children and grand children how to make them.
Ruth also loved reading her Bible and had a love for God that no one could discourage her from.
She believed in the power of prayer. She knew nothing was too difficult for God. If there was a problem she went to God. If there was a need she went to God. She knew God would be there for her and many times we heard and seen the stories of God answering her prayers.
She never missed out on an opportunity to tell someone about how good God was and still is. We need only to trust Him and hold on to Him even in the hard times. She would say there is nothing better than loving God and trusting in Him.
Even in the last few months of her life she would tell us God's not done with her yet… He still has work for her to do.
She believed and had faith that if God wanted to heal her body He would and if not it was time to go home and be with The Lord.
Ruth is survived by her loving children Larry Julien, Rebecca (Terry) Hemmes, and Thomas (Monica) Julien.
Her 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her son David, her parents Leon and Lula, and her sisters Frances and Betty.
The family would like to thank Faith Hospice for all their care and compassion during Ruth's illness.
We would also like to thank so many of you for your prayers, your kind thoughts, and words. We've definitely felt your love and support during this difficult time.
There will be a time of visitation from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, February 14th, 2022 at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE Kentwood, MI 49508.
The funeral service for Ruth will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, February 15th 2022 at Apostolic Faith Church 1935 44th Street SE Grand Rapids, Michigan 49508.
Elder Dorian Richourdson will be officiating.
There will also be a one hour visitation from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022 prior to the service. Service Details. Visitation
