Rosemary Aurora
Strzyzewski
July 24, 1927 – April 18, 2019
Rosemary Aurora Strzyzewski of Mears, Michigan, age 91, passed away April 18, 2019. She was born the seventh of twelve children to Marcel and Antoinette Despres on July 24, 1927, in Grand Rapids, MI. She was a 1945 Graduate of Mount Mercy High School and continued on to receive a bachelor's degree then Master's of Social Work from Grand Valley State College and became State Certified. Rosemary was married to Richard Strzyzewski in 1950. Begat and raised seven children and was a loving mother. She had a rewarding career of social work at the Women's Resource Center, Project Rehab-Shiloh Family (helping troubled teens), and in private practice, serving individuals and families. Rosemary enjoyed walks on the beach at Lake Michigan with her children and grandchildren. For several years Rosemary was pleased to volunteer work at St. Gregory-Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She was inducted into the National Honor Society at GVSC; was a State Certified Social Worker and achieved the honor of Who's Who of West Michigan. Rosemary is survived by her children, Jeanne Strzyzewski-Bauer, Anne Strzyzewski-Chambers, Lynne Clark, Luke Strzyzewski; her grandchildren: Michelle Rose, Briana, Hannah Rose, Kaylee, Brandon, Robert, and Ryan; great-granddaughter Kendall Rose; sister, Blanche Krenselewski; and her brother, Bernard Despres. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Bernadette Despres, Jeannette Bahna, Rita Ross; and brothers, Marcel, Fred, Robert, Raymond, Roland, and Thomas Despres; and sons Paul, Jon, and Tom Strzyzewski. The family would like to thank Rosemary's care team at Family Tree in Hart, Michigan and Mercy Health Lakeshore Campus located in Shelby, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Larry King at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at St. Gregory - Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 316 S. Peach Avenue, Hart, MI 49420. In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to make a memorial contribution in Rosemary's name to your favorite charity; or you may honor her by praying the rosary in her name or attending mass in her memory.
