Rose Marie VanWingen, 82, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of family.
Born in July 1943 in Elk City, Oklahoma, Rose lived a life centered on caring for others and creating beauty around her. She worked as a florist, sharing her creativity and bringing joy to those around her through flowers and thoughtful gestures.
Rose found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved her dog, Emmie, and had a special passion for plants and gardening. Whether tending flowers, caring for her home, or spending time with family, she found joy in nurturing the things and people she loved.
She will be remembered most for her kind heart and her willingness to help others. Rose was someone people could count on, always ready with compassion, support, and generosity. Her caring nature touched many lives and created lasting memories for everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Spieker and Georgia Chervenka Spieker; her first husband, Charles Kenneth Lynch; her second husband, Richard VanWingen; her sister, Dolores Howard; her brothers, Larry Spieker and Frank Spieker; and her great-granddaughter, Tessa Joelle Terpstra.
She is lovingly remembered by her six children, Barbara Terpstra, Kathy Steffensen, Laynetta Clifton, Kenneth “Bo” Lynch, Lorie Brown, and Denise VanWingen; several stepchildren; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and her three sisters, Marilyn Armstrong, Hugoline Costello, and Dorothy Dillard. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
Rose’s legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and caring for others. Through her love of family, her generous spirit, and the beauty she brought into the lives of those around her, she leaves memories that will continue to be treasured.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rose’s life on June 10, 2026, at Terra Verde Golf Course, 11741 W. Leonard Street, Nunica, Michigan 49448. Though Rose will be deeply missed, her love, kindness, and generous spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her family finds comfort knowing that the seeds of love, compassion, and generosity she planted throughout her life will continue to bloom for generations to come.
