Ron Turrell, 73, slipped away peacefully at home on June 1, 2026 with family at his side. Born October 11, 1952 to Bill and Patsy (Davis) Turrell, Ron grew up in Muskegon and was a 1971 graduate of Mona Shores High School.

On October 20, 1978 he was married to Mary Schmitt, a Registered Nurse for 41 years at Mercy Hospital, and together they built their home and raised their family in Muskegon.

Ron worked his entire life at the family owned business Turrell Pools and Storage. He partially retired in 2019, leaving it in the capable hands of his beloved daughters Melissa and Leanne.

His passions were snow skiing, fishing, kayaking, playing the guitar and euchre, but he especially loved touring and hiking the country in his Rpod camper with Mary at his side, as well as family and friends on occasion.

He also loved playing with his 4 grandchildren, Luke, Simon, Marshall and Matilda, especially teaching them to fish and play chess.

Ron was a quiet, gentle, hard working man loved dearly by family and friends. He will be missed every day.

Ron is survived by his wife Mary; daughters Melissa (Drew) Johnson and Leanne Wood; grandchildren Luke and Simon Wood, Marshall and Matilda Johnson; siblings Bruce (Sara) Turrell, Kathy (David) Hayes, and Janice Rice, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on July 19, 2026 at the Community House 4095 Grand Haven Rd., Norton Shores, MI. Visitation will take place one hour prior. A luncheon will be served following the service as well as time to play euchre and enjoy listening to music.
