IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald James
Brooks
August 18, 1959 – September 17, 2021
Ron Brooks, passed from this life to his Lord and Savior on Friday September 17, 2021, just two days before the 29th anniversary of his life changing accident. On September 19, 1992, a tree fell on Ron, paralyzing him from the waist down. After that, his physical and spiritual life changed. Rons journey was a difficult one, with many twists and turns, which deepened his faith in God. Ron faced his challenges not perfectly-but humbly, coming back to his trust that God was in control. Having accepted the reality of life in a chair, Ron was always trying to reinvent the wheelchair! He made custom brakes and coffee holders, and anything else that could make his chair more convenient. That ingenuity and his desire to help others gave him many projects to help others with their chairs or scooters. In giving and thinking of others, Ron got great joy. Today, Ron knows the answers to all of his questions. But more than that, he knows the One - Jesus Christ - who knew him fully, and loved him fully. Ron loved to wheel around Holland with his dog Luke and always appreciated the folks at Bobs Butcher Block who would give Luke a treat when they stopped by. Ron loved his family, prayed regularly for his wife and children, and loved to spend time with Logan, his grandson. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Valerie (Thompson) Brooks and his in laws Tom and Joyce (Brink) Koopman. He is survived by his wife Lori (Koopman) of almost 30 years, his son Bryan Brooks, and daughter Michelle Pardee (John) and grandsons Logan and Brayden, as well as his siblings Carolyn (Dwight) Gilbert, and Peggy (Patrick, now deceased) Ary, Doug and (Cherie) Koopman, Dan Koopman, (Brian) and Mindy Kooman and Greg and ( Shane) Koopman, many nieces and nephews that knew and loved Ron.
