Ronald Arthur Baker, age 89, of Kentwood, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

Ron was born on May 6, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Arthur and Theresa (Jacob) Baker.

He graduated from Washington High School in 1952, and went on to graduate from The Milwaukee School of Engineering.  Throughout his life, he loved his work. Retiring from LSI/GEAvionics .  One of his proudest achievements was helping get Apollo 13 back home again.

Ron loved traveling.  He and his wife visited every state in the U.S. except Hawaii as well as much of Canada.  He was also an avid sailor.  In his formative years, he and his father hunted and fished to feed his family.  In later years, Ron enjoyed designing and making stained glass items for the house.

Ronald will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Gayle Ann (Kasper) Baker; daughter, Lynn (Gerard) Smith; adopted daughter Brenda Pointer; granddaughter, Brittany Graham; and sister, Barbara (Randall) Schmidt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Nicole Rae Graham; and best friend, Garrit Peddemors.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, MI, with Larry Volink officiating.  A time of visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made in Ron's honor to Faith Hospice.
