Obituary

Romus Jewel Foster departed this earth while at home with his loving family by his side on October 4, 2025. Romus was born in Muskegon, MI on July 2, 1952 to the union of Dunbar and Lenora Foster. Romus attended Reeths-Puffer Elementary and graduated from Orchard View High School in Muskegon. Following his graduation, Romus was employed by Grand Haven Stamp Products in Grand Haven, MI as a Dye Press Operator. He received numerous work accolades and promotions as he worked for the company for approximately 40 years until retiring. As a youth Romus attended John Wesley A.M.E. Zion church and New Liberty Church. Self taught, Romus was a professional drummer who traveled across the country playing with many bands. His own band, Mellow Decision, once opened up for Natalie Cole. Later in life Romus attended Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptised and filled with God's Holy Spirit. There he served as a drummer in the music ministry, committing his talents to the worship of God. He then moved his family to Grandville, MI where they became members of Resurrection Life Church under the leadership of Pastor Duane Vanderklok. He was a devoted member of the usher board, and served as one until his illness. Romus will be deeply missed. He adored his family. He leaves behind a host of cherished memories to his loving wife of 38 years, Georgianne Foster; Children: Keo Foster, Grandville, MI; Shantelle Foster, Wyoming, MI; Romell (Renee) Mahan, Spokane, WA; Dwight Cummings, Muskegon, MI; Siblings: Paul (Roberta, deceased) Foster, Troy, MI; Billy (Rebecca) Foster, Dowagiac, MI; Linda Foster, South Bend, IN; Jerome Matthews, Fisher, IN. He leaves 12 grandchildren, with one of the grandsons bearing his name of Romus. There is also an adored host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends. Heaven bound with those who preceded him in death are: Parents: Dunbar and Lenora Foster; Brothers: David and Matthew Foster, Elder Tyrone Matthews; Sisters: Evelyn Blackwell and Arnola Cornelius.

The family of Romus Foster would like to express our deepest appreciation for everyone's sympathy through visits, calls, shared memories, cards, flowers, condolences and prayers which all meant a great deal to us as we go through the process of remembering his life. THANK YOU!
