With deep sadness, we announce the death of Roger J. Arendsen of Walker, Michigan. He was born to Philip and Alberta (Nederveld) Arendsen on May 8th, 1943, and passed away on March 14th, 2022 at the age of 78.

Roger was born the eldest of two children in the family home in Byron Center, Michigan. He was a 1961 graduate of Byron Community Schools. Later, he attended barber college in Detroit, Michigan and earned a barber license, which he used his entire life. He worked in several different barber shops, ending at Leonard Street Barber & Style on the west side of Grand Rapids.

Among his favorite activities were listening to radio talk shows that expressed conservative views. He enjoyed fishing and the company of his family. He was knowledgeable about many things, including mechanics and electronics, and there wasn't much he couldn't fix. Probably his favorite activity of all was conversing with his customers as he cut their hair. Roger also had a passion for Detroit Lions Football, never missing a game.

Roger is survived by two sons, Philip J Arendsen II and Jonathan and wife Lori; three grandchildren, Hannah R Arendsen, Ryan J Arendsen, and Yah' Nessah Arendsen; one sister, Janice F Arendsen, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank Spectrum Health Hospice for its care and compassion during Rogers illness.

Rogers life will be remembered at a memorial service at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 19th, 2022 at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave S.E. Kentwood, Michigan, 49508. There will be a time of visitation prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 12 noon.
