Braaksma Sherwood, Roberta -Robbi, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on August 2nd, of complications from long term diabetes. Robbi was born in Edmonton Alberta Canada in 1954. She attended Edmonton Christian East grade school through the ninth grade, and graduated from Eastglen High School where she enjoyed achieving high grades. With dual citizenship, she moved to Grand Rapids Michigan in 1972 to attend Calvin College. Robbi worked as a Property Tax Consultant for Kent County, Amway, Steelcase, and in 1986 started her own consulting agency StateTax Systems, which she operated successfully for many years. As a matter of personal enjoyment, she earned her BS in Business from Aquinas College in 1990. In 2009 she became disabled due to complications of diabetes. She loved traveling and going on lengthy car rides with her dogs Ewok, Radar, and longtime friend Rick Hendrickson. She is preceded in death by her husband Ron Sherwood and her parent's William and Joan (Hanenburg) Braaksma. She is survived by her brother Gary and Patty Braaksma, sister Susan Braaksma, sister Margaret Greenwood, and sister Anita Braaksma; several admiring nephews and nieces, and many friends. A celebration of life will be held at the Comstock Park American Legion Post 47 on Saturday August 25th at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to St. Johns Home.
