April 23, 2013 Service: April 26, 2013 MARTIN - Robert E. Martin, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2013; Born in North Manchester, Indiana on December 22, 1925. He was a veteran of World War II, participated and enjoyed watching all sports, bowling and NASCAR racing. He worked for the Manchester Foundry for many years. In August of 1964 he married Mary Peacock and moved to Grand Rapids, MI. He attended Maplelawn Baptist Church and retired from the US Post office in 1986. Traveling and cruising the world was a great joy to them both. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Karen (Joe) Smith of Hopkins, MI, Robert Martin of Angola, IN, Linda (Jerry) Bungard of Butler, IN, Donna (Steve) Keen of Grand Rapids, MI, Susan (James) Fitzpatrick, of Mohnton, PA; nineteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary; daughter, Judy; brothers, Dick, Howard and his parents Hector and Nora. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Maplelawn Baptist Church, 124 Maplelawn SW, with visitation from 12-1 PM prior to the service. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
