IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert W.
Hurley
January 26, 1934 – October 10, 2025
Robert W. Hurley, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away October 10, 2025, in Hudsonville, Michigan, at the age of 91. Bob was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on January 26, 1934. He lived a long and happy life, full of humor, classic cars, and family.
Having been born and raised in the Detroit area, Bob had a lifelong love of cars. Working as a draftsman and then a senior project engineer, Bob worked for Chrysler and GM in his 30-year career, also serving a term as President of the American Society of Body Engineers (ASBE.) Bob owned many classic cars in his lifetime, and it would be difficult to list them all, however, memorable cars included a 1953 Lincoln Capri, a 1963 Corvette Stingray, a 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass and his prized 1955 Ford Thunderbird.
The most important thing to Bob was his family. Married 55 years to Ethel, who passed in 2009, Bob is survived by their children: Robin (Keith) Vogel, Robert B. Hurley, Karen (David) Rex, and Jennifer (Ryan) Jones. Bob is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Doug) Forier. Bob and Ethel raised their children in a house full of love that emphasized always being there for each other. Bob joyously attended Hurley family parties, with good food, good music, and lots of laughter. Bob enjoyed traveling to Florida and soaking up the sunshine, especially on Sanibel Island and in Sarasota/Venice. He enjoyed his daily crossword puzzles and was a lifelong reader, passing his love of books to his children and grandchildren. Bob was sly and quick with a joke throughout his life, ensuring all who interacted with him were left smiling.
Bob will be so very missed, but we celebrate the love and legacy that will surely live on with his children, beloved eight grandchildren and cherished eleven great-grandchildren.
