Robert Earl Nelson passed away unexpectedly at his home in Kentwood, Michigan on June 15, 2021, at the age of 66.

Robert was born to Clyde and Ollie Nelson on June 1, 1955. Robert was the youngest of two and loved his family, the church and making people laugh. After a rocky childhood, Robert turned his life around and served his Lord and Savior until his death. Robert worked a multitude of jobs, with the longest being a factory worker at Magic Steel. Robert was married to Patricia after rekindling a childhood romance. They married August 28, 1993, and Robert became a father to three children. Robert loved to make people smile, spend time with those he cared about, and beat people in games such as chess, dominoes, and spades. In his free time, Robert would read just about anything he could get his hands on and watch good movies with his kids while puffing on a cigar.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years Patricia Nelson; three loving children Dontea (Sandra) Stewart, 41, Kintea Stewart, 40, and Priscilla (Thomas) Everett, 35; his brother Clyde Nelson, 67; His grandchildren Deante, Christian, D'vontea, Jason, Jaylen, Allante, Devin, Trevion, Benjamin, and Da'mier.

He was preceded in death by his Parent Ollie and Clyde Nelson. The family would like to thank Robert's physicians, nurses, social workers, with a special thank you to the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center for their continued care during Robert's illness, Dr. Goldstein, and his good friend Richard Tucker.

There will be a private memorial in Robert's memory at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at The Plaza, 5700 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
