Rickie ("Rick") Lee Ward, age 72, peacefully passed away at home in Wyoming, Michigan, on Thursday, January 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Ward; his children, Shawnie Michmerhuizen (William) and Rickie Ward II (Heather); and his cherished grandchildren, Brooke Mahlebashian, Sierra Chandler (Corey), Sydnee Michmerhuizen, Rickie Ward III (Sadie), and Colton Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ward Jr. and Donna Ward, and his recently deceased brother, Robert Ward III.

Born on January 6, 1953, in Wyoming, Michigan, Rick grew up with a passion for life, family, friends, and community. As a proud graduate of Rogers High School, he was known for his athletic abilities and competitive spirit. Throughout his life, Rick's love for all sports remained a constant source of joy, from cheering on the University of Michigan football team as a longtime season ticket holder to faithfully supporting the Detroit Lions, always hopeful for a Super Bowl victory. Rick's passion for sports extended to coaching and refereeing high school football and baseball, and an avid participant in various local leagues for softball, golf, and bowling through the years.

Rick's infinite love of motorcycles, a passion inspired by his father, brought him immense joy. Riding his Harley, whether on a short ride around town or a cross-country adventure, brought him a sense of freedom and peace that he deeply treasured.

Above all, Rick will be remembered for his selfless generosity, kind-hearted nature and the laughter he brought to everyone he met. His kindness, love, and infectious spirit touched the lives of countless people. Rick's family and friends will forever carry his memory, grateful for the unconditional love and joy he gave to each of them. He will forever be deeply missed, eternally loved, and cherished by those who knew him.

A visitation and a celebration of life will be held at Cornerstone Church, 2730 56th St SW, Wyoming, MI 49418. Visitation begins at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
