August 31, 2013 Service: September 6, 2013 Richard W. Wilson, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 31st, 2013. A life-long resident of Grand Rapids, MI, Rick was a 1961 graduate of Ottawa Hills High School. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis "Nifty" and Helen Wilson and sister Barbara Backowski. Rick is survived by his wife of 31 years Helen, sons Tim, Dan (Cheryl), Ray and Michael, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, his brothers Francis "Sonny" (Micheline) of France, Charles (Anette) and Thomas (Chris), brother-in-law Jim Backowski and many nieces and nephews. Mass of the Christian Burial and Committal will be celebrated Friday, September 6th at noon at St. Paul the Apostle in Grand Rapids, MI, Msgr. Ernest Schneider presiding. His family will receive visitors Thursday, September 5th from 4pm-8pm at Ofield Funeral Home at 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, MI. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or St. Paul the Apostle Education Foundation.
