Richard H. Strang, 92, of Jenison, Michigan (formerly of Jackson, Michigan) went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. After a fall at home, he was taken to the hospital where he later passed away with his family by his side.
Richard was born on September 26, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Jay and Grace Strang of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High school in 1947 and Central Michigan University in 1952. While serving in the US Air Force, he married Frances (Jean) Straka on October 17, 1953. After his service in the Air Force, they moved to Jackson, Michigan where he began a career in Management & Budget at Consumers Power. He retired from Consumers Power on September 15. 1987. He was baptized on May 10, 2019, and had an active and growing faith in the Lord.
Richard is survived by his 3 daughters: Debbie (Ed) Churchill, Becky Weaver and Nancy Strang (Craig BeVier).
He is, also, survived by his grandson, Jeremy (Grace) Churchill; 2 great-grandsons, Harrison Churchill and Remington Churchill; by step grandson, Marc (Sara) Churchill; by 2 brothers and a sister - Larry Strang, Pat Schumacher & Jim (Debbie) Strang. He will be remembered very fondly by nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Richard will always be remembered as devoted to his family and was a great provider for his family. He was very caring and generous to his family. He made family time together fun and interesting - especially at the cabin on Fife Lake, on Motorhome trips, and visits to northern Michigan! He loved to spend time with family and friends that were like family. In his later years, he commented that being with his family was his "favorite thing!" It was very meaningful to him that he was recently able to gather with his siblings for a couple of reunions at a family cottage.
Richard was a woodworker, a gardener, an avid lifelong deer hunter, fisherman, reader, "birder," collector and spectator sportsman.
He will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege to know him and to be loved by him.
