Richard Duane Saxton, 90, died and went to be with the Lord September 2017, at Sheldon Meadows, Hudsonville, MI. He was born January 30, 1927 to Richard O. and Jessie Mae (Cable) Saxton at Custer MI. He graduated from Custer High School and served in US Navy 1944-1946 aboard Battleship New Jersey. He married Nancy Sue Morton in 1950, then remarried Elaine M (Luskin) Nordine 1971. He is survived by one son Dr. Duane Saxton, of Zeeland, MI. He is survived by step children, Marcia (George) Houk of Ludington,MI, Karen (Mark) Schoenherr of Tomahawk, WI, and Weldon (Barb) Nordine of Petoskey, MI. He is predeceased by both wives, his parents, and daughter Delyn Marie Saxton. Richard worked for Briggs Hardware, Dow Chemical, Consumers Power, then independent as major appliance repairman. He served on fire departments in Whitehall, MI (as assistant chief), and Hamlin Township, MI. He enjoyed building all things mechanical. He retired to New Port Richey FL, until 2014 when he had a stroke and came back to Hudsonville, MI. At his request no public funeral service is scheduled.
