IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Alexander
Onan
August 21, 1991 – January 23, 2025
Together to celebrate the life of Richard Alexander Onan, known fondly to family and friends as Alex, who left this earth on January 23, 2025. Born on August 21, 1991, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Alex's spirit and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew him.
Alex is survived by a loving family: his wife Kristina Onan, his beautiful children, son Richard Alexander Onan II and daughter Madalyn Grace Onan; His parents Carrie Onan and father Richard Onan/Diane Onan; His grandparents, Richard and Sandy Onan, R. Daniel Reinhardt I and Carol Friedli, along with Lanajane and John Shorey. He was also very loved by his siblings, AJ Onan, Dee Dolphin, Zachery Onan, and Samantha Onan who will hold closely the memories of their brother and their memories growing up close to their heart, among many other family members.
A graduate of Coopersville High School, Alex's passion for high school football and music was most evident in his talented singing performances with the Coopersville show choir, which he showed great pride in.
Alex loved his two beautiful children and his wife. Alex's passions included smoking various foods on his two smokers, traveling that took him to many beautiful places, but his heart remained loyal to his home state. He was a huge supporter of Michigan football, The Detroit Lions, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Detroit Tigers. His intensity during game days were as much a part of the experience as the games themselves.
As we say goodbye to Richard Alexander Onan known to friends and family as Alex and Al, we remember a life lived with passion, a heart filled with love, and a spirit that will continue to always be remembered. May the amazing memories of Alex bring comfort to those grieving. Rest in Peace, Alex. You are finally with your Lord and Savior at peace. You will always be loved.
Alex celebration of life will be held at Berlin Baptist in Marne, Michigan on February 15th, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM, his service at 11:00 AM, following a social lunch to celebrate the good memories we all shared with Alex.
