May 27, 2013 Service: June 8, 2013 Richard L. "Dick" Moored, 88 passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Winona R. "Winnie" Moored in 2009. He is survived by his son Michael L. (Diana) Moored, daughter Susan Moored Broekhuis, son-in law Eric R. Broekhuis, cherished granddaughters Lindsey M. Broekhuis and Molly M. Broekhuis, his sister and brother- in-law Joyce and Bryce Hamilton, nieces Jayne C. (Steve) Cooke and Carol Stefanik and sister- in- law Maybelle Schram. He is also survived by Elizabeth "Betsy" Chase, his cherished friend, companion and by all accounts "partner in crime" for the entire four years he was a resident at Railside Living Center. Richard proudly enlisted in the Army Air Corps upon graduating from high school in 1942. Richard and Winona were married on June 24, 1949. He graduated from MSU and began his career at General Motors-Diesel Equipment Division. He retired from his position of Superintendant of Quality Assurance in 1980. He enjoyed a long retirement, spending time in Grand Rapids, Punta Gorda Isles, FL and most of all Alden/Torch Lake. He loved his Ham Radio, building all things "Heathkit", keeping his yard perfect and boating and hiking up at Torch Lake. Always an honest, hard- working man, he was truly a joy and will be dearly missed. We would like to thank the entire staff at Railside Assisted Living Center. You all touched his life in many ways. There will be a celebration of Richard's life on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 2pm at Railside Living Center, 7955 Byron Center Ave SW.
