Richard David Middleton of Grand Rapids, age 86, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Sunday November 19, 2023. He was born to James Arthur and Beatrice (May) Middleton on December 30, 1936 in Grand Rapids.

Richard was the youngest of four children. He joined the U. S. Army at age seventeen and served in the Korean war. He attended the Electronic Institute of Detroit where he received his degree as an Electronic Technician.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years Joyce (Courtade); loving children, Chuck (Peggy) Middleton, Cindy Zemaitis, Robin (Brad) Fynewever, and Laura (Art) LaMadline; grandchildren, Nicole (Mark) Elzinga, Lindsey Zemaitis, Jason (Abbey) Fynewever, Katelyn (Shaun) Greiner, Gina (Shaine) Majewski, Audrey (John) Uredi, and  Andrew (Sarah) LaMadline; great grandchildren, Ethan, Natalie, and Coleton Elzinga, Bella, and Aurora Hang, Olivia, and Jordyn Greiner, Gracelynn, and Myles Uredi. Sisters in law Norma Courtade, Sr. Gladys Courtade, brother in-law Dan Courtade, and many loving and caring nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, James (Agnes) Middleton, William (Rita) Middleton, Thomas (Ella) Middleton, and his granddaughter, Amber LaMadline.

The family would like to thank Dr. Anna Lok of Ann Arbor Hospital who took great care of Richard over the years and was special to him.

At Richard's request cremation has taken place and there will be no service.

A memorial contribution can be made in Richard's honor to American Heart Association of Grand Rapids.
