Obituary

Richard Y Ibarra, 70, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was welcomed into his heavenly home on March 25, 2021. Rich was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. Rich was a devoted follower of Christ who loved to serve others. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, U of M sports, reading, relaxing at the beach and fine dining. It was not uncommon for Rich to share his faith and he loved studying God's Word.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Ibarra, of nearly 45 years; his children Christopher (Kelly) Ibarra, Ryan (Lauren) Ibarra, Allison (Todd) Kuslikis and Stephanie (Louis) Arias; his grandchildren Mila, Christian, Caiden, Emma, Landen, Nora, Aaron, Aiden, Emery, Austin and baby Ibarra on the way. Rich also leaves behind his mother, Miyoko Ibarra; siblings Emiliano Ibarra, Maria (Tommy) Dodds, Linda (Richard) Gates and Frank (Dena) Ibarra and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lopez, and his adoptive father, Francisco Ibarra.

A celebration of Rich's life will be held at Calvary Church's Chapel on Saturday, July 17, 2021 (707 E Beltline Ave NE, 49525). The open house to celebrate Rich's life will take place from 10-11:30 am with an open mic time from 10:45-11:15 am for those who want to share a special memory of Rich.
