Richard Thomas Conlisk 5/3/1939 - 1/19/2018 Richard passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family. Richard is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda Tuinstra Conlisk, daughters Allyson (Brad) Grutter, Stephanie (Eric) Mentalewicz, Holly (Chris) Arnold, Christine (Bill) Staples; son Doug Conlisk, and sister Diane (Dave) Walton; 15 grandchildren who lit up his world, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends - all of whom he loved dearly. Richard retired as a faithful Meijer employee of 25 years. While he loved his career with Meijer, there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his beloved wife and children as well as watching his grandchildren whenever the opportunity arose. When the fateful news came last week that Richard's time in this life was coming to an end, he gave instructions to Allyson and Stephanie to ensure his wife was taken care of because his sole purpose in life was her happiness and well-being. These instructions were not to ensure she was spoiled with lavish gifts but to help with the everyday things that he so often tended to…such as….reminding her of her medication, locating her keys, helping her find her phone, etc. In fact, his first words upon learning that he would be passing soon was not to worry of himself but was to say "But who will take care of Linda?" To which the girls both replied in unison, "We will!!" His wife was always the priority in Richard's world. Richard was a man of few words but of great heart. He was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his wife and adored her tremendously. He held all of his family and friends, though some separated by many miles, close to his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to World Vision or Faith Hospice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 5:00-7:30 PM at Ofield Funeral Home (4500 Kalamazoo Ave, Kentwood) A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Wednesday, January 24 at 1:00 PM at Ofield Funeral Home.
