Richard Charles Brumm passed away 03/14/2021 at home. Richard was born 03/21/34 to Lewis and Anna Brumm. He married high school sweetheart Dorothy Jean Schultz on 12/13/1952 in Sandusky, Michigan. They were married for 67 years.

Within a year after marriage, they had the birth of daughter Sherry, and 7 years later their son Rick. Richard worked in construction moving dirt for his entire work career. He was a member of the Operation Engineers local 324 for 67 years. His career included construction on many of the Michigan interstate systems. He worked on sections of I-94, many miles of US-131 near Whitehall, Rothberry, and Hart. He also worked on other projects including the Ludington Pump Storage Project, Grand Rapids airport, Lake Doster Golf course, Moors Golf course, and many of the building sites for the plants
in the Battle Creek Industrial Park such as Stanley and Nippon Denso. He worked for some of the larger construction contractors in the state such as Edison, Canonie, Shinville, Millbocker and more.

After retiring in his early 60s, Richard started restoration projects at home for himself and others. He restored a 1949 Pontiac, 1956 Ford, and 1947 John Deere for himself. Projects for others would include a few cars and trucks, and even an antique wood parlor stove and a lawn jockey. During the winter months, Richard and Dorothy started traveling. First with a pickup and camper, and eventually a motorhome they covered most of the midwestern and southern states and then started wintering in Yuma, Az with friends. Many hours were spent trying to get the best senior deals at the buffets, and ice cream shops while they were being a snow bird in Yuma with the friends.

Richard was proceeded in death by his parents, Lewis and Anna, brothers Evans, and Raymond, sister Shirley and his wife Dorothy. He has 2 children Sherry Buck of Pentwater, and Rick (Terri) Brumm of Otsego. Granddaughters Stacey (Brent) Daggett, Lisa (Jason) Lloyd, grandsons Mathew (Amanda)Brumm, and Christopher Brumm, great grandchildren Trevor Castonia, Zoey Brumm, Ella Lloyd, Abby Brumm, and Levi Brumm. Richard's family work ethics have been pasted down to his children and grandchildren to never give in and work until the job is completed to the best of your ability. And, if you don't succeed the first time try again.

He led a full life, seen a lot done plenty. After cremation, his ashes will be mixed with his wife's and buried at the Mountain Home cemetery in Otsego. Burial will be at a later date with family.
