Richard (Dick) Aernouts passed away on June 19, 2024 while a resident of Care Cardinal in Kentwood, Michigan, at the age of 86, and as a believer in Christ, is now in heaven with his Savior. Dick attended Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan before finding employment at Packaging Corporation of America and then with General Motors in Wyoming, Michigan from which he retired in 1999. Dick married Marcia (Kooienga) of Jamestown, Michigan in 1956 and the couple raised their four children: Garry, Mike, Sherry, and Sandy, at their home on Bryant Street in Godwin Heights. Dick's friends and family shared in his grief when he became widowed by Marcia and again later by Joyce (Mulder). Dick was a life-long fan of the Detroit Lions and enjoyed NASCAR and other car related TV shows. As well as being a 50's & 60's classic car buff, Dick enjoyed the music of that era's country stars and famous boxing matches. Dick especially enjoyed boating on the Muskegon River near his home in Stanwood, Michigan and would frequently captain his pontoon boat with friends and family members all the while describing the various highlights along the way downstream to Rogers Dam and then back again. Dick requested that his death proceedings be minimal. His hope being that his friends and family not be burdened and to minimize the focus on his death, but to allow for each to mourn privately in their own way.
