Raymond Voetberg passed away into the arms of Jesus on October 11, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Ray was born in Grand Rapids on July 14, 1950 to Ralph and Clara Voetberg. Ray is survived by his loving significant other and best friend of 21 years, Elaine Williams; daughter, Wendy (Chad) Ludema; grandchildren, Joshua and MacKenna, and Elaine's parents Thomas and Louise Williams. Ray will also be missed by Elaine's children: Nathan Wubbeling, Emily (Rocky) Badour, Wayne (Brooke Kwekel) Bregg, Susie Bregg Smith, Kyle (Analicia Pendergast) Bordeaux, Katelyn (Ronnie) Long; grandchildren, Mickenzie (Ryan), Allison, Michael, Lexi, Corey, Aiden, Arminda, Payton, Kayden, Fahlon, Tatum, Skylar, Elizabeth, Haylee, Wesley, Jaylee, Andyn, Millie, Ethan, Emery (Taylor); great-grandchildren, Maggie, Charlie, Toni, Mari, Lennox, Marlo, Emery Jr. Raymond is also survived by his brother, Bob (Dee) Voetberg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ron (Mary) Wind, Pat (Richard) Johnson, Ken Wind, Harold Wind, Larry (Char) Wind, Deb Funk, Kathleen (Jerry) Burgess, Linda (John) VanSingel, Ruth Williams, Tom (Tami Jo) Williams, Keith Williams; many nieces and nephews, with special thanks to his niece Tami (Rob) Bailey, and many friends. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Wind; parents, Ralph and Clara Voetberg; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Roy Gaunt; brother-in-law, Bernard Funk; nephews, Todd Gaunt, Brian VanSingel.
Ray graduated from Grandville High School in 1968. In 1969 he opened his own business, R-Vee's Custom Shop. He ran his shop until 2023 when he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Ray's greatest passion was painting and customizing his customers' cars and bikes and was well known around town for his wild designs and artwork. Many of his vehicles were published in car magazines and calendars. He loved to go fishing, vacations in the U.P., riding his Harley, he loved spending time with family and friends, and was deeply attached to his dogs.
Memorial Services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2350 44th Street SW, Wyoming. Visitation with the family will be held at the church before the service starting at 10:00 am. A luncheon will follow. The family would like to express their gratitude to Faith Hospice for their devoted care to Ray the past two months. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or Christ Lutheran Church.
