Obituary

Raymond Wayne Hilderbrandt, age 85, passed away on July 16, 2026, following a brief illness. Born on January 29, 1941 in Muskegon, Michigan, Ray was the beloved son of Bernard and Amy Hilderbrandt. He leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship.

Ray met the love of his life, Patsy Ruth Davis, and they were married on July 15, 1960, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Together they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising three cherished children: Raymond W. Hilderbrandt Jr. (Brenda), Richard A. Hilderbrandt (Janice), and Michelle R. Hilderbrandt (Sam). Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy, with whom he shared more than six decades of treasured memories.

A proud veteran, Ray honorably served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963. He was a life member of American Legion Post 69 in Whitehall, Michigan, and the VFW Auxiliary Post 1329 in Hart, Michigan.

Ray dedicated many years of his career to Sealed Power in Muskegon. He also was a substitute bus driver for Shelby Public.

He was an accomplished bowler, where he competed in numerous national tournaments, earning the respect of fellow competitors through his skill and sportsmanship. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Family was the center of Ray's world. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren—Rachel Anderson (Eric), Andrew Hilderbrandt (Devon), Abrianne Coon, and Terina Saldana (Hector)—and his many great-grandchildren. Ray's love for his family was constant and unconditional.

He also found comfort in life's simple pleasures, especially the companionship of his faithful dog and cat and the peaceful hours spent watching birds from his favorite recliner.

A private funeral service will be held for immediate family. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Trinity Health Hospital, along with Ray's compassionate home care nurse and caregivers, whose kindness and dignity brought comfort during his final days.

He will be deeply missed; his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
