McCarty, Paul C. Paul Charles McCarty, age 84, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 16, 2017. He was proceeded in death by his wife Patricia; his parents, Nathaniel and Elsie McCarty and his brother Robert McCarty. He is survived by his brother Nathaniel (Sara) McCarty; sister Jan (Jerry) Wallace; sister-in-law Judy McCarty and Paul's first wife Joline (Proctor) McCarty. His Children; Paul (Laura) McCarty, Greg (Barb) McCarty, Jayne (Ed) Overbeck, Tim (Diana) McCarty, Michele (Rick) Zimmerman; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Also his extended family step daughters; Stasia (Roger) Rosema, Katina (Tom) Nienhuis, Natasha (Amanda) Basore and 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Paul served in the National Guard Armory as a Chief Warrant Officer for 43 years. Paul was an expert Marksman and won many NRA Championships. He was also an avid Detroit Tiger's fan who kept all the game statistics throughout the years. Paul was very much loved by everyone and will be greatly missed by his family, extended family and all of his friends. The family would like to thank those who provided care for Paul. Hospice did an extraordinary job of caring for him, and a special thank you goes out to Cambridge Manor in Grandville for not only their great compassion and care for our dying loved one but for making all of us feel like family. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 31, 2017, at 11:00 am at Resurrection Life Church - 5100 Ivanrest Ave SW., Grandville, MI. The chapel is located at door "K". The family will greet friends and relatives prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the church.
