IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick Herbert
Partridge
November 22, 1943 – October 16, 2012
October 16, 2012 Patrick Herbert Partridge Age 68 Kentwood, MI Patrick passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 16 at home among his loving family. He was born in Velasco, TX in 1943 and raised in Manistee, MI. He was the son of Herbert Partridge and Leah Callahan. In 1960 he began a 20 year career in the U.S. Army and met Therese Laine of Fitchburg, MA while stationed at Ft. Devens, MA. They were wed in 1962. During Patrick's military career he served in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany as well as various assignments in the United States. He retired from the military in 1980 and enjoyed working as a mechanic, truck driver and courier for the Grand Rapids Press. Patrick was a devoted husband and father. In addition to Therese, his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his children, David (Cheryl) Partridge, Douglas Partridge, Lynn (Garth) Anderson, Laura (Frank) Riccobono, four grand children and one great grand child. Patrick was also the eldest of four loving brothers, Michael (Joyce), Richard (Paula) and William Peacock(Carol) and many nieces and nephews. Patrick's gentle and kind personality has been captured best by his grandson, Scott Anderson: "The hero of my family died today, the husband with more chivalry in his left pinky than any other man has ever given, a gentleman father-in-law trusting the care of his daughters to hardworking honest good men who would follow his example, a brother who came from a generation of military service and American gratitude, the father of four who have grown to be just as strong, unique and successful characters. He was a legend to us grandchildren, the international traveling tattooed motorcycle rebel who I have never seen angry or hear swear. He had always shown patience, and always saw joy and fascination with everything. He knew us all because we went to him with our problems, his wisdom made us who we are and what we will continue to grow into. I miss him so much." According to his wishes, Patrick will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Spectrum Health Hospice.
