Obituary

On Friday, September 5, 2025, this earth lost a most beautiful soul, Patricia Ora Mie Arnold (Thiede). Born in 1940 in Medford, Oregon, she passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's at the age of 85. She spent her final days surrounded by loved ones listening to Elvis, The Sound of Music, and feeling the gentle caress of her daughter at her side. Throughout her life, she has touched the lives of countless others with her kindness, compassion, selfless love and an unwavering faith in God.

Patricia's family has always been her greatest passion and top priority. She would often put her own needs aside to care for, listen to, and pray for each and every one of them. She has always adored and spoken highly of her parents; (predeceased) Kermit John William Thiede and Theoma Frances Thiede (Bristow), her ten siblings; (surviving) Ruth Harrison, Kermit Thiede, Faye Browne, Thana Harms, Doug Thiede; (predeceased) Edna Scherping, Marlene Thiede, Darlene Unger, Nadara Walther and Sandy Mosier, her three children; Joseph Doerfner (Laura) , Shawn Doerfner, and Natascha McCuan (Bobby), her eight grandchildren; Shawn McCuan, Casey McCuan (Alexia), Miescha Bulkley (Brett), Jessica Georgi (Andy), Josh Convis, Maria Doerfner, Jakob Doerfner and Aaria Doerfner, her six great grandchildren; Colton Minor, Emmet Bulkley, Eli Georgi, Leila Bulkley, Luke Georgi, and Mariana McCuan.

Patricia had many talents and would never sit still. Constantly cleaning, you could white glove her house and not find a speck of dust. She was always doing some sort of drawing, painting, or crafts, and always seemed to move into a fixer upper house and turn it into something beautiful. She was a master yard saler and thrifter, and had an amazing ability to schmooze people, talking them into dropping even the lowest prices. She found many treasures in the rough, especially antiques, that she would clean up and refinish to near perfection. An incredible cook and baker, her dinner rolls, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and rhubarb pie, were unmatched by any other. Singing and writing songs, however, were where her biggest dreams had laid. She had the voice of an angel and wrote well over one hundred gospel songs. She had always hoped to get them arranged and published, and be able to sing them to the world, sharing her love of Jesus.

Beautiful, both inside and out, she had the style, class and elegance of a movie star, and a strength, resilience, and determination in the face of the many trials she endured that leave those of us who love her so dearly, in awe. Though her life here on earth has become but memories, those memories will be treasured for many lifetimes.

We are in the process of preparing our mother's Celebration of Life. The date is still TBD.
