Obituary

On September 16, 2022, the world lost the infectious light that was Pamela Jill
Dickerson. For 77 years, she brought warmth and love to all those lucky enough
to cross her path. Born on February 17, 1945, "Pammy" was a force to be
reckoned with. She knew what she wanted and was as stubborn as she was
sweet. She lived life with a childlike joy - as giddy and excited for Christmas
morning, family gatherings, a good dance party, and a sugary sweet as her
beloved grandchildren. She was a caring daughter and sister, a remarkable
third grade teacher to hundreds of students, a good friend to many, a devoted
spouse to her Gary, a loving mother to her three children, and the world's very
best grandmother to her six favorite humans.

Pam and Gary met and fell in love during their youthful years at Ionia High
School. They were married in 1966 and, after graduating from Central Michigan
University, settled in the Northview Community, where they raised their
children and allowed their home to be the hub of activity for many
neighborhood kids and friends. Pam loved her classroom home of 34 years at
Stocking Elementary in Grand Rapids, where she impacted the lives of her
many students. She relished her role of "sports mom" and looked forward to
her time in the stands, whether it was cheering on Brian or Brent on the field,
Kristi on the gymnastics floor, or "Gar'' on the sidelines. The pinnacle of her life
came with the birth of her grandchildren and the years spent with them.

Pam is preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Thomas, and her
sister and best friend, Judie Noffke. She is survived by her loving husband,
Gary; brother, Roger (Diane) Thomas; three children: Brian (Tracey) Dickerson,
Brent (Heather) Dickerson, and Kristi (Eric) Hinkle; six grandchildren: Devin,
Sarina, Grace, George, Willa, and Adela; neighbors-turned-family, Paul, Mary,
Kate, and Leah Boelkins; and many loving friends and relatives.

Her family is thankful that Pam has been released from the suffering of
dementia and will continue to feel her presence and find her in the joy of
Christmas day at Brian and Tracey's, in the cozy corner of the couch, in the
words of a good book, and - mostly - in the laughter and eyes of her
grandchildren. Pam's love is her legacy, and it will live on forever.

A small, private funeral will be held for the immediate family. The family invites
all those who knew and loved Pam to join them for a Celebration of Life
gathering on October 15, 2022 from 4-7pm at The Casino Club (3260 Salerno Dr
