IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy
Henderson
November 21, 1943 – January 11, 2025
Nancy Lee (Imhauser) Henderson, born on November 21, 1943, in Kankakee, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on January 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was the cherished daughter of Everett and Gertrude (Dandurand) Imhauser. In January of 1965, she married Larry Henderson (1944-1982). She is survived by her daughter Monica (Henderson) Seaman and son-in-law David Seaman; her son Michael Henderson and daughter-in-law Farin Henderson; her beloved grandchildren Zachary and Sydney Seaman, and Eva and Dean Henderson. Nancy is also lovingly remembered by her sister Marilyn (Imhauser) Scofield and her brothers Bob (deceased), John, and Dan Imhauser.
Nancy spent her early years in Kankakee before making her home in Three Rivers and later Kalamazoo, Michigan. After dedicating many years to being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, she returned to college to pursue her passion for nursing. Nancy earned her nursing degree and went on to serve as an oncology nurse at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. She took great pride in her role in establishing the West Michigan Cancer Center, where she retired as Director of Nurses. Even in retirement, Nancy continued to serve others as a volunteer with the Red Cross, providing disaster relief.
A lifelong sports enthusiast with an unwavering allegiance to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The family asked that in Nancy's honor you wear green on January 20. She also found joy in traveling the world, reading voraciously as part of several book clubs, cooking and entertaining for loved ones. She was never far from a notepad to create a menu for a delicious happy hour and meal. She enjoyed savoring fine wine or scotch while sharing her knowledge with others. Her greatest happiness came from over 70 years of cherished memories at the family cottage on Long Lake in Three Rivers, where she delighted in sharing its beauty with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Nancy's lifelong friends for their unwavering support during her illness. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Go Irish!
