Nancy J. Geertman of Kentwood, Michigan (formerly of Grandville and Caledonia), age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Friday August 13, 2021. She was born to William and Jeanne Fuson on May 26, 1933 in Trenton, Missouri.

Nancy was the oldest of two children. She married Kenneth H. Eschenbach, with whom she had four children. In time, Nancy earned a Bachelor's in Special Education, becoming a teacher working with early elementary students in a thirty-year career. Reading and literacy became a particular passion, for which she earned a Master's degree before she retired from education.

Later in life, she married Marinus J Geertman.

Nancy enjoyed riding Five-Gaited Saddlebred horses in her youth, in which she won many awards on the show circuit. She loved to raise flowers and kept a beautiful garden for many years. Nancy found great pleasure in travel and camping over the years and enjoyed visiting Civil War monuments and learning their history.

As a Christian, Nancy was a person of great faith. Many people from her church sought her for wisdom, counsel, and prayer over the years. She loved to laugh and found joy in the company of friends and family.

She was a Breast Cancer Survivor.

Nancy is survived by her loving brother Bill (Nancy); two daughters Karen (Gary) Bartholomew, Kris (Thom) McGuire; one son Eric Eschenbach; three step-daughters; Joyce (Dick) VanDyk, Marilyn (Pat) Chadderdon, Karen (Ed Mendez) Geertman; and one step-son Dave (Janelle) Geertman; grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and one son Mark Eschenbach.

The family would like to thank Emmanuel Hospice and American House Kentwood for their care and compassion during Nancy's time in residence.

A memorial visitation will take place from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, MI 49508.
