Moody (Dinky) Estrige Firth, Jr. of Sand Lake, Michigan (formerly of Bull Island, VA), age 67, passed away unexpectedly on July 16th, 2019. Dinky was born on November 21, 1951 in Newport News, Virginia and lived his youth in Bull Island (Poquoson) Virginia. He worked on fishing boats prior to making a career in asphalt. He was known as the best paver operator in the business. He met his wife, Cindy, in 1971 and they married in 1974. Cindy and Dinky moved to Michigan in 1979. They had four children and 6 grandchildren. Dinky was a hard-working man and took pride in his work. Dinky was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects, mechanical repairs, or whatever else might need to be done. He would give whatever he could or help wherever he could to make sure his friends and family had everything they could need. He greatly enjoyed gardening, any time spent on the water, grilling, and most of all spending time with his family. His family meant everything to him. Moody is survived by his wife and lifelong companion of 48 years, Cindy; daughters, Missy (Dave) Smith and Heather Firth; sons, Timothy Firth and Sean Firth; grandchildren, Cassidy, Cienna, Remington, Kiara, Cheyanne, and Raelyn; his brother, Timothy Firth; sisters, Myrtle Conner and Theresa Bugg; 10 nieces and nephews and many, many great-nieces and nephews. He had many loved ones who were very important to him, each in their own special way. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Alice Mae (Insley) Firth and father, Moody Firth, Sr. At his request he will be cremated and a private celebration of life will be held for family and close friends at his home on July 21, 2019.
