Michael Scott Steele, age 61 of lonia passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at The Laurels of Carson City under hospice care. He was surrounded by his loving mom, brother, sister, cousin Kevin Kenney & wife llbeth & Mike's friend of 52 years, Bruce Wright.

He was born on March 16, 1962, the eldest son of Walter Steele & Judy (Corey) Steele-Rossbottom.

He was a graduate of Ionia High School class of 1980 and a proud graduate of Lansing Community College where he earned an Associates Degree in Business Management. He was employed at several jobs over the years, working at the Village Market in Muir, Meijer in lonia, lonia Sentinel-Standard and White & White Medical Equipment Company warehouse & also doing security at many factories. His favorite job of all was working his self- employed music DJ business doing weddings, anniversaries, parties and even a few singles' dances. He loved music and loved to share that joy with everyone who was listening.

Mike had many challenges he overcame throughout his life. In his grade school and early high school years he was bullied by other kids but he always took the high road, never fought them but forgave them and eventually became friends with them. At the age of 14, along came the biggest bully of all - Diabetes. As much as Mike tried to make friends with it, he knew he had to fight, and he did. For 46 years he fought many blood sugar spikes ups & down, infections, kidney failure, chemo therapy to treat his lymphoma, kidney dialysis & neuropathy in his feet and hands. He fought hard and never complained until the last few weeks when the pain was getting stronger and weakness from dialysis was wearing him down.

He is survived by his mother, Judy; brother, Patrick Steele; sister, Debra Steele; his 4-legged feline daughter, Abby Rose; Aunt Sally Yoder (Bliss) Allison & several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter; paternal & maternal grandparents; aunts, Janice Miller & Marion Hewitt; uncles, Bill Yoder, Harry Steele & a few cousins.

In keeping with Mike's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A memorial luncheon will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 1pm-4pm at the Moose Lodge located at: 869 E Lincoln Ave, lonia, MI 48846.
