IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael James
Serr
February 6, 1943 – March 30, 2026
Celebration of Life
The Cottage at Ravines Golf Club
12:00 - 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
Michael Serr, 83, passed away at home in Saugatuck, Michigan, on March 30, 2026, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 6, 1943, in Marshall, Michigan, to Carlyle and Aletha Serr.
Mike moved to Holland in 1967 to work for his father at High-Q Electric. When the business was sold in the 1990s, he and his business partners purchased the lighting portion. He co-owned and operated High-Q Lighting for the past 32 years, working alongside his family for much of that time. He remained in Holland until relocating to Saugatuck in 2004. He spent his summers golfing at Clearbrook while his kids swam in the pool, and his winters hunting geese and deer at the Todd Farm. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Arlene, and their friends, attending Hope College basketball games as a season ticket holder, spending time in his bowling league, and going to the casino.
He loved his family deeply and cherished time spent together. They will fondly remember his love for the University of Notre Dame athletics, his appreciation for a good prank, his watchful concern for anyone backing out of his driveway, and his reluctant affection for his cats—whom he insisted he didn’t want, but loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Arlene Serr; his children, Tammy Kerr (Ethan Barde), Nicole (Michael) Hansen, William Perkins and family, Christina Leathers (Jacob Broo), and Scott (Angela) Serr; his sisters, Rebecca (Jeff) Israels and Julie Serr TerHaar; along with 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlyle and Aletha Serr, and his brother, Robert Serr.
Mike will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held for immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 12pm to 3pm at The Cottage at Ravines Golf Club at 3520 Palmer Dr, Saugatuck, MI 49453.
