Obituary

Michael J. Pelkey, 60, of Kentwood, Michigan, passed away July 1, 2018, at the University of Michigan Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York on August 27th 1957, the son of Joseph and Marlene (Fisk) Pelkey. Mike joined the Air Force after completing high school and honorably served for 4 years; he then went on to serve as a police officer in Vermont for 2 years until deciding to choose a different career path. In 1986, Mike graduated from NH College after obtaining his BS in Accounting. Mike continued his education throughout his life and became an accomplished Certified Public Accountant and Forensic Accountant. He successfully managed his own Accounting and Forensics firm for almost 25 years. Mike loved life and strived to make others happy; his laughter was contagious. He was an avid sports fan who always encouraged his children to participate. Mike loved to travel and always made new friends wherever he went - going to the beach was one of his favorite destinations. He also loved entertaining (he was the grill master), theater (especially Broadway), gardening, kite flying, boogie boarding, and had a real passion for scuba diving - he obtained his master scuba diver certification in 2006. He was a compassionate, generous, and loving man - his family always came first (including the pets). Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Beverly; four children: Sarah Pelkey of Montana, Jonathan Pelkey of Michigan, Tara Healey of Massachusetts, Sean Healey of New Hampshire; his mother, Marlene Pelkey of New York; four siblings: Glenn Pelkey of South Carolina, Cathy Rushford of Massachusetts, Thomas Pelkey of New York, Susan Gowett of New York; and several nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his father, Joseph Pelkey; maternal grandparents Wyvis and Emma Fisk; paternal grandparents Marshall and Florence Pelkey. He is greatly missed and will always remain in our hearts. Mike's service will be held on Sunday, July 15th at 11:00 A.M. at the Blossom Hill Cemetery, 207 North State Street in Concord, NH. Reception to follow for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Wounded Warriors Project, or the American Red Cross.
