Michael L. McConnell, age 58, passed away unexpectedly August 15, 2020 in his Muskegon home. He was born on February 24, 1962 in Muskegon to James D. McConnell and Evelyn J. (Sobish) McConnell Buchanan. Michael ("Merle"), known for his kind and generous heart, was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with friends and family. Michael looked forward to the annual family fish fry each summer and worked tirelessly to ensure it was a great time with great food for all.

Michael is survived by his daughter Stacey (Jake) Connell and their children; siblings, Barbara Henriksen, Jeffrey (Barb) McConnell, Patrick McConnell, Robin (Kevin) Zahniser, Elden Buchanan, Lisa (Tom) Fine; stepfather James Buchanan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving parents James D. McConnell and Evelyn J. Buchanan, as well as his brother James D. McConnell, Jr. and sister Sharon McConnell.


A Celebration of Life for Michael will be held at a later date.
