KUBIZNA, MICHAEL JOSEPH - 9/23/1946 - 3/8/2021. Michael J. Kubizna, age 74, of Grand Rapids, MI, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior March 8, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Mike is survived by his wife, Paulette Kubizna (Redner), of 53 wonderful years, his 3 children: Stacey Kubizna-Farr, Michael Kubizna (Victoria) and Trey Kubizna (Jodi), and his 10 beautiful grandchildren: McHaley, Shelbey, Cecelia, Eloise, Jediah, Francesca, Xavier, Malachi, Anniyah, and Keegan. Mike has 4 brothers and 2 sisters: John, Dottie, Perry & Gary (twins), Jack and Debbie and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Zehender, his father, John J. Kubizna, and his brothers John, Jack, and Gary Kubizna.
Mike was first and foremost a family man, with Paulette and loved ones at the center of his universe. He loved to have get-togethers in the backyard, barbecues, pool parties, bonfires, volleyball matches, wonderfully elaborate family reunion competitions and camping adventures. He also enjoyed gardening very much and developed beautiful arrangements of flowers and grew a variety of crops in the summer. Truly a green-thumb guy. Mike was an avid golfer which he loved to share with his kids, brother Perry and many of his friends. Softball being a very close second favorite. He loved bowling, jigsaw puzzling, baking, road trips and frequent adventures. He shared all these hobbies with his whole family. All of this was supplemented by hard work and dedicated service to Steelcase Inc. for 34 years where he retired from in 2000.
Due to COVID-19 conditions, the family is planning a Celebration of Life memorial for later in the Spring.
The family would like to thank the extra special people of Emmanuel Hospice for their care and compassion during Mike's illness.
