Obituary

George, Michael Thomas ("Mike"), age 70 of Lowell, passed away November 9, 2019. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally; his parents, Jim and Peggy; and nephew, Michael George. Mike is survived by his children, Jim and Stacey George of Ada, Michigan, and Sarah and Dave Tunison of Peoria, Arizona; grandchildren Khloe, Ian, Patrick, Landon, and Zachary; siblings Bob and Pat George, Pat and Patricia George, Roger and Carol George, and Brenda George; and many nieces and nephews. Mike delighted in spending time visiting with his family and friends and in particular, helping Cub Scouts Pack 3106 as its Webelos den leader. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed attending his grandkids' sporting events. Often times referred to by his family and friends as the "unofficial Mayor of Lowell," he frequently greeted and visited with others on his regular walks around the town of Lowell and in particular, at Meijer. He brought joy to many with the time he took to listen, to share a goofy story, and to offer fatherly and grandfatherly advice. A tailgate party in celebration of Mike's life is being planned for Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., at Wabasis Lake Park, 11220 Spring Hill Drive, Greenville, Michigan. Donations in honor of Mike may be made to the Sally A. George Scholarship Fund (visit www.saginawfoundation.org, click "Give Now" and type "Sally A. George Scholarship Fund") or to Cub Scout Pack 3106, c/o St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4351 Parnell Avenue, N.E., Ada, Michigan 49301.
